Musical Stories performed by The Tennessee Cree

Sunday August 18th

3pm – 3:30pm

Lilac Grove

A collection of original songs blending traditional and country folk, filled with poignant lyrics about his tales of witnessing major cultural and lifestyle shifts in his community and speaks of the inner psychological turbulence of being born with Cree and Scottish descent. The show is all built around Kevin’s tremendous singing talent, and a romanticized version of his story as Indigenous singer-songwriter Kevin Schofield, also known as The Tennessee Cree.

Kevin Schofield

A self-taught folk/ Americana music singer-songwriter, Kevin started life living a traditional Cree upbringing in the Moose Factory, Ontario. From early age through his teen years, he lived a transient life from being sent away to live in boarding schools while relocating to Toronto, and then Nashville, where honed his musical craft. In 2006, his journey to Nashville, where his vocal style reminiscent of Johnny Cash earned him being “The Tennessee Cree” (a play on Cash’s back-up band the Tennessee Three), was but a leg on a journey that would nominate him for a Juno. Kevin continuously releases original songs filled with poignant lyrics about his tales of witnessing major cultural and lifestyle shifts in his community and speaks of the inner psychological turbulence of being born with Cree and Scottish descent.
