You will be delighted by 5 dance pieces this group will perform. Each dance is based on either a legend, myth, or story that relates to Chinese culture and stories. Music, movements, and costumes transform these dancers into the characters of these legends, taking the audience on adventures that will heighten their imaginations.

Haiyan Dance Studio

Haiyan Dance Studio is a non-profit dance organization based in Ottawa, Ontario, and incorporated on a federal scale.  Studio is located in Kanata Lake.  Ms. Haiyan Lu founded “Haiyan Dance Studio” in 2012, the purpose is to share the beauty of Chinese dance with everyone in Ottawa. Nurture from children to adults’ perception of the arts through dance teaching and performance.  It raises awareness and promotes Chinese art and culture.  Haiyan Dance Studio welcomes everyone from all ages and all background to get involved to share the beauty of Chinese dance。

Since its establishment ten years ago, Haiyan Dance Studio has achieved remarkable results under the leadership of Ms. Lu Haiyan, the founder, professional dancer, and artistic director of Haiyan Dance Studio. Up to now, more than 1000 students have participated in the rehearsals of 60 dance programs. These include 8 solo dances, 3 duos, 4 trios and 45 group dances, and have participated in more than 200 performances in a wide range of cultural events and colorful community stages. The cumulative audience exceeded 30,000.  such as the Tulip Festival, Asia Heritage Month, Music and Beyond, The Great India Festival, etc. She and her group perform as volunteers in the Chinese New Year Gala and Moon Festival every year. 

Haiyan Dance Studio organizing and planning various shows every year, the dance works were warmly welcomed and appreciated by parents and community audiences.

 

Nancy Chu

Nicole Chu is a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa who is going into her first year of medical school at the University of Toronto. 

Nicole has been learning Chinese Dance with Haiyan Dance Studio since 2014. She participated in over 30 performances in Ottawa, such as the annual Spring Festival Gala, the 2019 Senate’s Asian Heritage Month Reception, 2019 World Multicultural Festival, 70th China Day Gala and Autumn Festival, 2017 Canada International Youth Music and Dance Festival, and much more.  Nicole is passionate about exploring her cultural roots and showcasing the beauty of Chinese dance.

 

Annie Liu

Annie Liu holds a doctorate degree while working full time. Since 2012, Annie Liu has been studying Chinese dance at Haiyan Dance Studio. Under the guidance of Ms. Haiyan, she began to learn the most basic movements and dance styles, and her dance skills improved significantly, making her dance even more beautiful and attractive.

In addition to performing, Annie has also taken on leadership roles. She hosted and led the annual performance gala for the Haiyan Dance Studio, demonstrating her ability to inspire and lead others in the art of dance.

Anne has participated in over 30 performances in Ottawa, showcasing the beautiful dances taught at Haiyan Dance Studio. Annie is passionate about her dance moves and thoroughly enjoys practicing and performing them. Her path to Chinese dance exemplifies her hard work, dedication and love for this beautiful art form.
