POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
MARKETING ASSISTANT
We are hiring a Marketing Assistant. The successful candidate is up to 30 years of age, and will work with the General Manager to create effective digital marketing and social media campaigns to promote our production, our community outreach programs and special events. This position can work remotely and at our office at Arts Court, 2 Daly Avenue in downtown Ottawa.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Planning and implementing marketing initiatives to promote our summer season;
- Developing written and visual digital creative materials (including video);
- Updating our web sites and social media;
- Preparing and monitoring digital ads;
- Creating blogs, interviews, and taking photos and videos;
- Overseeing distribution of printed marketing materials;
- Contacting community groups and scheduling bookings for events;
- Providing a training workshop in Social and Digital Media for youth; and
- Other administrative duties as needed.
The successful candidate must have:
- Taken courses in Marketing, Communications, Media/Public Relations or similar;
- Experience with video editing;
- Attention to detail;
- Excellent telephone skills and dealing with community groups and the public;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal);
- Excellent computer skills (Mac, Microsoft Suite, Canva, WordPress, etc.);
- Experience with Social Media platforms;
- Ability to show initiative;
- Ability to work independently.

MEDIA RELATIONS PUBLICIST
We are hiring a Media Relations Publicist. The successful candidate is creative, dynamic, energetic and passionate about the arts. Working with the General Manager, you will create and deliver effective publicity and media campaigns. You will secure broad coverage in digital, print, video, broadcast media of our production, community outreach programs and special events. This position works largely remotely with occasional time in Strathcona Park and at our office in Arts Court (2 Daly Avenue).
Dates: June 5th – August 11th, 2023 | Duration: Part-time up to 24 hours per week |
Salary: $20-25 /hour (based on experience) | Location: Remote + Strathcona Park |
The successful candidate will be responsible to:

- Create compelling stories and media pitches to secure coverage;
- Develop effective written and visual promotional materials;
- Create and distribute press releases and pitches, and follow-up with media;
- Organize and liaise with media for interviews, stories and reviews with company artists;
- Post compelling materials to our web sites and social media platforms;
- Write blogs and conduct interviews, take photos and videos;
- Organize a successful media day in the park for video and photo shoots.
The successful candidate must have:
- Training in Communications, Media/Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or similar;
- Experience working with media;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Attention to detail;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Good computer skills (Mac, Microsoft Office, WordPress, Video, etc.);

GENERAL MANAGER
Odyssey Theatre, Ottawa’s premier summer theatre currently in its 37th season, is seeking a new General Manager.
We are renowned for our unique productions that weave language with masked performance, Commedia dell’Arte, puppetry, music and culturally diverse forms of dance-theatre. Our award-winning performances tell powerful stories that touch hearts and minds, spark creativity and reflect on our world. Our productions include original works and contemporary adaptations of social and political satires, myth and folk tales that celebrate the human spirit.
Our activities include: a main stage open-air summer production, new play creation, professional and youth training, digital theatre and community engagement. We work with community partners to reach new and diverse audiences for theatre. The Company’s plans for growth include international collaborations, an expanded digital theatre series and facility development.
We are searching for a dynamic, organized, collaborative, and results driven person to join our team. Working closely with the Artistic Director and the Board of Directors, the General Manager will support the artistic vision and continued growth of the Theatre by providing excellent marketing, financial and administrative support.
The General Manager creates and implements strategies for successful fundraising and marketing campaigns that will grow revenues to support Odyssey’s artistic goals. They prepare grant applications, oversee summer operations, contract artists, and manage our office operations and administrative staff.
We are looking for creative individuals who want to grow with the Company. Candidates should be passionate about the arts, excited by Odyssey’s artistic vision and have:
• University or college degree;
• Proven leadership capabilities and management experience;
• Excellent written communication skills
• Organizational skills and an ability to work independently and take initiative and responsibility
• Good interpersonal skills
• Arts administration training and experience
• Demonstrated fundraising ability
• Willingness to work flexible hours
This is a full-time position. The salary range is $55,000-$65,000 commensurate with skills and experience.
