Odyssey Theatre Offers You Exciting Volunteer Opportunities
Looking for a fun way to spend a few extra hours this summer? Odyssey Theatre invites you to volunteer for one of the most exciting and dynamic arts organizations in the City. We have a number of volunteer positions available, from assisting us with our administration and fundraising, to helping with the show operations in Strathcona Park. Regardless of the volunteer position you choose, you will be working with interesting people and performing tasks that assist a key Ottawa arts organization.
But volunteering for Odyssey Theatre is not just about making a contribution; it is about getting reacquainted with your neighbours, meeting new people, and celebrating the spirit of community that emerges from the combined effort that’s required to produce this show, a show that has become an anticipated feature of Ottawa’s cultural landscape.
Odyssey Theatre offers you the opportunity to volunteer for one of the most exciting and dynamic theatre companies anywhere. Each year more than 60 volunteers contribute over 12,000 hours annually to help make Odyssey Theatre happen. Every year, many of our volunteers work in the park, spending sunny days and warm summer evenings surrounded by the picturesque setting of one of Ottawa’s premier heritage greenspaces. Volunteers also have the opportunity to help out in our office located in historic and vibrant Arts Court, located steps away from the Byward market.
Odyssey’s volunteers contribute in many ways including:
- on our Board of Directors (in the areas of finance, marketing, fundraising, special events and community relations);
- with fundraising and helping with special events and corporate fundraising;
- in Strathcona Park helping with box office and concession sales, as ushers, or staffing the phones in our office;
- web/computer assistance;
- our marketing and publicity campaign; and,
- writing promotional material and other theatre information.
All of your hard work will not go unnoticed. You will receive free admission into Odyssey’s mainstage summer production and there will be a party at the end of the summer in honour of your contribution. For high school students, your volunteer contribution to Odyssey will count towards your 40 hours of required volunteer work.
